Springfield South and Downtown Rotary members participated in United Way's Fall 2024 Day of Action on October 4th. Members from both clubs helped with a project at the offices of Safe Families for Children located at 700 N. 7th Street in Springfield.
Along with our friends at Springfield's Downtown Rotary, our club participated in the United Way's Fall 2024 Day of Action on October 4th, 2024. The United Way is a global organization that aims to people and resources to address community challenges. Our local chapter, the United Way of Central Illinois, supports local nonprofits with funding in the issue areas of Health, Basic Needs, Financial Stability, and Education as well as connects them with volunteers looking to make a difference in their community.
Day of Action is a worldwide volunteering event occurring in both the Spring and Fall each year designed to bring communities together to make a big impact. Our service project this Fall involved sprucing up the Springfield offices of Safe Families for Children located at 700 N. 7th Street in Springfield. The goals of this organization is to support and strengthen families, prevent child abuse and neglect, and reduce the number of children unnecessarily entering the child welfare system. They are a volunteer-driven nonprofit providing hope and support to families in over 120 cities.
It was an enjoyable afternoon of volunteering for our members, and both Rotary clubs are proud to support both the United Way and Safe Families for Children.
